CLAT 2021 Application Form

Candidates must go through following details regarding CLAT 2021 Application Form:

  • The application form has been released from 1st January 2021.
  • The last date for registration is till 15th June 2021.
  • Applicants can submit the application form via online mode.
  • At the time of registration, candidates must provide valid/ working email ID & phone number in the application form.
  • Also it is mandatory for candidates to upload scanned images of passport size photograph & signature in the prescribed format and size.
  • The CLAT Application correction facility will be also provided for limited time period to make necessary changes in the application details.
  • At last, candidates are advised to also take printout of filled in application form for further use.

Application Fee:

  • Candidates can submit the application fee via online (credit card/ debit card) mode.
  • General/ OBC/ PwD/ SAP category candidates have to submit Rs.4000 as application fee.
  • The application fee for SC/ ST category candidates is Rs.3000.

CLAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check following CLAT eligibility norms before applying for exam:

UG Law Programme:

  • Qualification: Candidates must qualify 12th examination with any recognized board or university to be eligible.
  • Percentage: General/ OBC category candidates must score 45% marks in the qualifying exam & 40% marks for SC/ ST category candidates to be eligible.
  • Appearing: Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible for the examination. In this case, candidates also have to prove an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination.

PG Law Programme:

  • Qualification: Candidates must have qualified LLB or any other qualifying examination to be eligible for the examination.
  • Percentage: General category candidates must score minimum 50% marks, 45% for reserved category candidates to be eligible for the examination.
  • Appearing: Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam will be also eligible for the examination. In this case, candidates will also have to prove an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination.


CLAT 2021 Exam Pattern

Candidates must go through following details regarding CLAT Exam Pattern:

  • Exam Mode: CLAT 2021 examination will be organized via offline (Pen-paper based) mode.
  • Time Duration: Candidates will be given 2 hours to complete the exam.
  • Questions TypeMultiple Choice Questions (MCQs) & subjective type questions will be asked in the examination.
  • No. of Questions: There will be 150 questions in UG & 150 questions in PG exam.
  • Medium Language: Questions will be asked in English language medium.

CLAT 2021 Syllabus

CLAT 2020 Application Form is releasing from 1st January 2020. The exam will be held on 10th May 2020. The common law admission test (CLAT 2020), is an all India common entrance examination. It is conducted on a rotation basis by 19 national law universities (NLUs) of India. It is organizes for offering admission into UG and PG degree programs of law. Through this examination, appearing candidate can get admission in various universities in all over India. Check application details given below carefully and follow it to fill the online application form:

  • The application form will be available through online mode only.
  • CLAT application form will be available from 1st January 2020.
  • Candidate needs to fill the valid details in the application form.
  • Candidate will need their email id for the online registration.
  • Once candidate will create the login id and password after that they have to upload the scanned copies of documents, signature and passport size photograph.
  • Correction will be provided by the official authority after the completion of application form.
  • Submit the application form and take the printout of it. Keep the printout till the admission procedure.

Application Fee:

Application fee can be paid through online (by debit card/credit card) mode. The application fee is given below:

CLAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Information regarding the eligibility criteria, candidates can see the details mentioned below:

UG Programme:



  • Age Limit: There will be no upper age limit for UG programme in CLAT 2020.
  • Qualifying Exam: Candidate should qualify the class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board or university.
  • Percentage: 45% marks in case of the candidates belonging to unreserved/OBC/specially abled person (SAP) and other categories and 40% marks in case of the candidates belonging to SC or ST categories.
  • Appearing candidates: Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying exam in March/April 2020 also eligible for the appearing in CLAT 2020 online examination. They shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing of their qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.


PG Programme:


  • Age limit: No upper age limit prescribed for appearing CLAT 2020.
  • Qualifying Exam: The candidate must have minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination i.e. LL.B or any other equivalent exam.
  • Minimum Marks: 55% marks in case of the candidate is belonging to unreserved categories/OBC and other categories. 50% marks in case of candidate belonging to schedule cast/ schedule tribe.
  • Appearing Candidates: The candidate must passed/appeared in the final semester or final year of the qualifying examination on the date of his/her admission.

CLAT 2020 Exam Pattern

  • Exam Mode: As per the CLAT 2020 exam pattern, the test will be held in offline mode.
  • Duration: Candidate will be given two hours to attempt the law examinations.
  • Number & Type of Questions: There will be total 150 (for UG) & 150 (for PG) of multiple choice questions.
  • Marking: Each correct answer will be awarded one mark each and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
  • Language: The questions of CLAT 2020 will be in English language only.


CLAT 2020 Syllabus

English including comprehension

In the comprehension section candidate will be assessed on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meaning of words used therein, etc. the grammar section requires correction and incorrect in grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.

General knowledge And Current Affairs

The general knowledge will be evaluated on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Question on current affaires will test the candidates on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.


This section will test the candidate’s knowledge of elementary mathematics.

Legal Aptitude

The section will test the candidate’s interest toward the study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Some preposition may not be “true” in the real sense, candidate will have to assume the “truth” of these prepositions and answer the question accordingly.

Logical Reasoning

It may include the variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogism, logical sequences or analogies etc.


CLAT 2019

CLAT 2019 - The Common Law Admission Test for the admission year 2019-2020 will be held by National Law University Odisha, Cuttack (NLUO) on May 26, 2019 (Sunday). Unlike the previous years, the national-level law examination for admissions into NLUs will be administered offline. Further, the most-sought after law entrance exam, CLAT 2019 will be conducted for 21 NLUs including Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur (MPDNLU) and Himachal Pradesh National Law University . The CLAT 2019 conducting body, NLU Odisha has announced the admission notification of Common Law Admission Test on January 1, 2019, following by its application process commencing from January 13, 2019. Earlier, it was decided that CLAT 2019 application form would be available on January 10, 2019. The CLAT is held every year by an NLU for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes in the participating National Law Universities of the CLAT Core Committee. In addition to the NLUs participating in CLAT, over 25 private law schools will be accepting CLAT 2019 scores for their BA LLB, BBA LLB, BCom LLB BSc LLB and LLM programmes.

CLAT 2019: Exam Pattern

NLU Odisha, this year’s Common Law Admission Test administering NLU has announced CLAT 2019 exam pattern. However, the law aspirants can check here the exam pattern of CLAT, which is not expected to change this year too. With the CLAT exam pattern, aspirants will have a fair idea of the CLAT paper including number of questions, type of questions, marks and marking scheme.

CLAT 2019 Exam Mode - The Common Law Admission Test will be held offline, where the candidates will be seated against the computer machines allotted to them.

CLAT 2019 Examination Duration - The national-level law exam will be held for 120 minutes, i.e., 2 hours, commencing at 3:00 pm. The offline question-response sheet of CLAT 2019 allotted to the candidates will be taken away at 5:00 pm.

CLAT 2019 Questions - The CLAT applicants will have to answer as many as 200 questions. The questions will be of objective-nature with multiple-choice answer options. The law aspirants will need to choose the correct answer for the question by clicking on it.

CLAT 2019 Marks - The offline paper of CLAT will carry a total marks of 200, which means every question carries one mark.

CLAT 2019 Marking Scheme - Candidates attempting each question correctly will be awarded one mark. If any question is attempted wrong, there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks from the total CLAT 2019 score.

CLAT 2019 Question Language - All the questions in the offline CLAT 2019 paper will be in English language only.

CLAT 2019 Subjects and Important Topics - The Common Law Admission Test will have questions from as many as five subjects including Elementary Mathematics, English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.

CLAT 2019 Subject-wise distribution of Questions - Of the five subjects, English and Logical Reasoning subjects will have 40 questions, General Knowledge and Legal Aptitude subjects will have 50 questions and there will be as many as 20 questions from Mathematics subject.

CLAT Admission Process 2017

Aspirants seeking admission into undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes need to appear for CLAT 2017. The admission process of CLAT begins with the examination notification and availability of application forms. The CLAT 2017 applicants then will have to appear for the common law admission test. Based on their performance in the law examination, candidates will be awarded All India Ranks (AIRs) and CLAT 2017 scores which will be accepted by various law schools including NLUs. The CLAT committee will be organising CLAT 2017 counselling upon which they will be allotted seats in different NLUs under centralised counselling system.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2017

Candidates need to go through eligibility criteria of CLAT 2017 as specified by the law examination committee. Knowing CLAT eligibility conditions are important because these are the defined prerequisite norms for appearing in the law examination. CLAT 2017 eligibility criteria mentions minimum academic qualifications and marks percentage along with the age bar for applying for the law programmes. Following the common eligibility criteria of CLAT 2017, candidates applying for UG law programmes need to qualify 12th board examination (Intermediate examination) of 10+2 educational system, scoring at least 45% marks in the aggregate of subjects studied at 10+2 level. Continuing with the common criteria, those who are applying for postgraduate programmes need to have an LL.B degree with a minimum score of 55% marks in the final year of law degree examination. Moreover, those applying for five-year undergraduate programmes through CLAT 2017 need to be equal to or less than 20 years of age, as per the new change in admission policy after a BCI order.

CLAT Application Form 2017

CNLU Patna will begin application form of CLAT 2017 from January 1. Law aspirants can fill CLAT 2017 online application form only after registering themselves for the common law admission test. CLAT registrations can be done by providing a valid e-mail id and mobile number. The online applications of CLAT 2017 can be filled after logging into the application form window through CLAT 2017 registered account and password. Candidates will also need to pay an application fee of Rs. 4000 before submitting the form. CLAT 2017 application form needs to be filled before the last date, i.e., March 31, 2017; otherwise no applications will be entertained thereafter.

CLAT Syllabus 2017

As per CLAT 2017 exam pattern (paper pattern), the exam will be held online. The candidates can attempt a total of 200 questions carrying one mark each in two hours test duration. CLAT committee follows negative marking policy, under which 0.25 marks each will be deducted from the total scored marks for wrong answers.

CLAT Exam Centres 2017

The exam centres of CLAT 2017 list out the cities across India where the online examination will be conducted. CLAT 2017 exam centres will be announced by CNLU Patna in January, as the exam will be held in over 175 testing locations across the country. Applicants will be communicated about their admission testing venue through their CLAT 2017 admit cards. No request will be entertained for change of CLAT 2017 examination centre, once it has been allotted to the candidates.

CLAT Counselling 2017

The examination committee will be organising counselling of CLAT 2017 from May 29 as it’ll be declaring the CLAT counselling schedule on May 25, soon after the declaration of results. Candidates who qualify in the law admission test can participate in CLAT 2017 counselling based on their AIRs or the SRs. The CLAT counselling process involves choice locking and seat allotment. Candidates will be allotted seats based on their choices of locked seats in the participating NLUs. After the seat allotment, candidates need to accept the seat and deposit the fees within a given time; else the seat will be deemed to get cancelled automatically. Candidates will be offered three options during the CLAT counselling–lock, shift or withdraw seat. The exam committee then will be holding next round of counselling for CLAT admissions. Following the method, as many as three CLAT 2017 counselling rounds will be held for offering admissions in the law programmes. Till last year, CLAT committee conducted a total of four rounds of counselling.

CLAT Participating Institutes 2017

As many as 18 National Law Universities will be participating in CLAT 2017. The list of CLAT 2017 participating institutes also mention various law schools besides the NLUs which accept scores of the common law admission test. As per the CLAT participating institutes’ list, Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Nagpur is the 18th and the latest addition. Candidates appearing the law admission test vie for the NLUs including NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata and NLIU Bhopal which are the most preferred NLUs by the law aspirants and are the founding member of the CLAT committee.

CLAT Seats and Reservation 2017

The Common Law Admission Test is conducted for offering admissions to as many as 2352 seats in the undergraduate law programmes and 604 postgraduate programme seats. The admission committee follows government policy for reservation of CLAT seats. While some of the NLUs have seats reserved for candidates possessing state domicile, each of them have the other seats reserved for the distinctive categories–Other Backward Class (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). Find below the percentage of seats reserved for the categories.

  1. OBC – 27 per cent of total seats

  2. SC – 15 per cent of total seats

      ST – 7.5 per cent of total seats

CLAT Seat Allotment 2017

Candidates will be allotted seats in the participating NLUs as per CLAT 2017 seat allotment process, which form an important part of CLAT admission counselling. If a candidate accepts the allotted seat, he/ she needs to deposit the requisite amount of fee within a given due date. The seat will be automatically forfeited, in case of non-deposition of fees. The exam committee will be issuing next seat allotment list, only after the admission has been conducted based on previous list. There will be as many as three such CLAT 2017 seat allotment lists published.
